Lane House car Show 1904 Click to enlarge
Some good guesses say that these are, from left to right: an Oldsmobile, a White Model C steamer, an unidentified steamer, a Locomobile steamer, and likely a Northern or another Oldsmobile. What we do know for sure is that these automobiles are parked on the south side of Fortuna's Main Street between 9th and 10th, and in front of the Lane House, where Taco Loco is located today.

The Fortuna Redwood AutoXpo was first put together in 1990,  but there was a lot of interest in car shows prior to that date. In this picture, cars were fairly new in Fortuna when this first ever gathering of cars was held, likely around 1903 or 1904. It was also very likely that every automobile in Fortuna was part of this show. It was held on Fortuna's Main Street between 9th and 10th Streets, in front of Taco Loco, the same location where the Judged car Show is held today.

First a couple of articles about AutoXpo's movers and shakers and how it evolved to where it is today, "The Good Old Days" and "A Glance at the Past".

Mike Morrow asks several people attending the Redwood AutoXpo to reminisce about "My First Car".

"We're All Motorheads." Ron Thunman describes a typical Redwood AutoXpo event.

And finally, we need to thank the City of Fortuna and all the individuals who help make this exciting event happen!
